Learn and grow with your vocal coach in Zurich

A strong voice, extensive knowledge, and professional qualifications are one thing. Being able to help students grow is another. Empathy and a positive learning environment are at the heart of what we do. This approach ensures our techniques are effective and keeps your passion for practice alive.

Especially for children and teenagers, we place great importance on a supportive and motivating learning environment that builds confidence and joy in singing.

Learn to sing like a pro

At Kabok Voices, singing lessons are based on solid vocal-technical work and many years of pedagogical experience. Regardless of style – pop, rock, jazz, musical theatre or classical – we work in a practical, differentiated way with a clear understanding of voice, body and musical expression.

The focus is not on rigid rules, but on understanding functional connections and applying them to your own voice. This is how you develop a healthy, resilient vocal technique that gives you musical freedom and remains sustainable in the long term.

Developing your stage presence

Concerts and workshops

At Kabok Voices, we offer suitable lessons for every level – from beginners to stage-ready performers – across pop, rock, jazz, musical theatre and classical styles. In addition to individual and group lessons, workshops are part of our teaching approach, combining acting, singing and stage presence.

These formats create a safe and supportive space in which you can explore performance situations and develop your presence on stage. Through regular class sessions and internal formats, you gain practical experience and gradually prepare for public performances.

When you feel ready to share your voice with an audience, further opportunities such as concerts and larger performances become available. This is how stage presence grows – not in theory, but through real experience.

You will also have regular opportunities to perform at Kabok Voices. Each teacher organises a class lesson once per semester, where you can practise performing in a supportive, relaxed setting, followed by drinks and snacks. These sessions allow you to gain confidence in front of your peers and teachers.

Prepare for studio recordings and performances

Preparing for performances and studio recordings is an important topic for many singers – whether you regularly perform on stage or pursue singing as a personal goal. In your lessons, we therefore work specifically on presence, expression and confidence in performance situations.

Depending on the musical context, aspects such as microphone technique may also be included – particularly in pop, rock or musical theatre, or upon request. However, the voice always remains at the centre: posture, sound guidance and musical control form the foundation, whether singing amplified or unamplified.

We also address topics such as stage fright, focus and mental preparation, so that you feel stable, present and at ease when performing.

The singing school with strong expertise – Kabok Voices Zurich

A solid, classically founded vocal technique is essential for classical singers and forms the foundation of modern singing styles, particularly belting. At Kabok Voices, we therefore combine elements of traditional bel canto with modern vocal techniques. You gain a deep understanding of how your voice works, how to find it, and how to use it efficiently and sustainably.

Our teaching is based on current vocal pedagogical and voice-physiological research. These insights form the foundation of our lessons and are always connected with musical expression and your individual goals.

The aim is to develop a healthy, flexible and resilient voice that meets the demands of different musical styles and performance contexts – whether classical or contemporary.

What to expect from your singing lesson

For your vocal training and singing lessons at Kabok Voices in Zurich, you can choose between 30-, 45- and 60-minute sessions – either one-on-one or in a group of two.
This is how we structure our singing lessons: We incorporate the various elements below into warm-up exercises, as well as breathing and physical exercises. Together, we select the piece for each lesson – whether modern or classical – so that it aligns with our current focus and suits you in terms of both singing technique and musical preference. This approach ensures both learning success and enjoyment.

Posture

“Proud”, open posture: We focus on refining your posture to help you master breath control and provide strong support for your voice. Proper breathing technique and healthy posture are deeply connected. Together, we identify which muscles need to engage more – and which should relax – to achieve an optimal, healthy posture.
A balanced posture enhances your respiratory function, strengthens vocal control, and heightens your body awareness, contributing to your overall well-being.

Controlled, prolonged exhalation: We focus on achieving a controlled, steady exhalation to support healthy, clear vocal production. This involves mastering the speed and flow of air from your lungs as you sing, ensuring your vocal cords produce a resonant, non-breathy tone. The result is a voice that is both powerful and precise.

Through simple and effective exercises, we focus on closing the vocal folds to strengthen your voice. Achieving a healthy, non-breathy tone is fundamental to solid singing technique and essential for mastering different vocal registers. This foundation allows you to sing pop, musical theatre, or classical works with the same confidence and expressiveness as your favourite artists. Once this technique is established, you can explore breathiness as a deliberate vocal effect.

We focus on opening your throat to optimise resonance. Your throat and mouth act as your primary resonance chambers when singing. “Opening the throat” means creating the right space for your voice to resonate freely.
This technique produces a sound that is confident, natural, and balanced – neither overly dark nor too light. When your throat is open, your voice gains clarity and brilliance, giving you the sensation of a “higher voice placement” and allowing it to sit effortlessly in its ideal position.

The vocal registers are a fascinating and essential aspect of singing. Both classical and modern singers begin by mastering their two primary registers: the head voice and the chest voice. The next step is learning to blend these registers seamlessly.
In every lesson – regardless of your vocal range – we work on developing both your head and chest voices. We aim to help you use your voice with versatility and individuality, giving you the artistic and creative freedom to express yourself fully in your singing style.

We offer an extensive collection of digital and printed resources for all voice types, including pop and musical songs, opera arias, oratorios, and classical songs. In each lesson, we work on a piece that we select together. You share what you’d like to sing and what interests you, and we compile a list of songs to focus on – ensuring both enjoyment and learning.
You will always receive the sheet music, including the latest pop songs, along with a high-quality backing track, all transposed to suit your vocal range. During your lessons, your singing teacher will accompany you on the piano, guitar, or backing track, providing the support you need as you sing.

We focus on preparing you for the moment you share what you’ve learned with an audience. Whether you’re performing a pop song, a musical number, a classical piece, or an aria, you will develop the confidence and expressiveness to deliver a compelling performance.
After your preparation, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in an audition workshop. This internal class event – a small, intimate concert followed by a relaxed aperitif – gives you valuable performance experience and helps you prepare for future public concerts.
