Williams Villadroin Valdés

Williams Villadroin Valdés is an art educator, music teacher and guitarist with an international background. He completed his musical studies at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, Cuba, and holds a university degree in music education (art education). In addition, he completed postgraduate training with a focus on music pedagogy and therapeutic approaches, which shapes his holistic teaching philosophy.

His teaching career has taken him to various educational institutions in Cuba and Switzerland. In Cuba, he worked as a guitar teacher at the Escuela de Instructores de Arte in Havana and as a Cuban tres teacher at the Escuela Vocacional de Arte in San Antonio de los Baños (Mayabeque). In Switzerland, he taught guitar, ukulele and electric guitar at Musikschule Hug in Zurich.

The guitar is at the core of his teaching, with a strong focus on classical and popular music. Williams teaches acoustic guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, Cuban tres and ukulele at an equivalent pedagogical level, adapting his methods and repertoire to each student’s age, experience and musical goals. Elements of piano, Cuban percussion and ensemble work complement his teaching, particularly in developing rhythm, musical understanding and interaction.

Alongside his teaching activities, Williams maintains an active concert and ensemble practice in cultural and educational contexts. His pedagogical approach combines technical and musical development with individual, student-centred guidance.
